🔥 Ottawa’s tech scene is on fire.
Really, it is. The city is home to 1800 of some of the best and fastest-growing tech companies in Canada. Not only are these companies raising more money in the public market than any other Canadian city, but they also very diverse, spanning seven key industries: Aerospace, Defence and Security, Clean Technologies, Communications Technologies, Digital Media, Life Sciences, and Software. But the one thing they do have in common is that they’re all on the hunt for talent.
In fact, the Information and Communications Technology Council predicts that Ottawa will need to fill over 10,000 tech jobs by 2019. That’s an increase of nearly 15% of the current labour pool! It’s easy to see for yourself just how in-demand these programming jobs are in this town. Just perform a quick search of “software” on Indeed or Linkedin and ALL THE JOBS pop up:
To show people just how awesome a career in tech can be, Invest Ottawa is thrilled to be bringing HTML150 to the capital! As North America’s largest learn-to-code event, its mission is to provide accessible education and inspire as many Canadians as they can to shape their world through code.
But it doesn’t stop there! HTML150 is just one of the many collaborative, tech-focused community events going on in the midst of this town’s hiring frenzy. Just last month, over 700 Ottawa job seekers were able to visit eight of the city’s most innovative companies at Startup Open House. And if you’re still not quite sure if tech is for you, check out networking events like AccelerateOTT, a jam-packed day full of inspiring talks from the industry’s latest and greatest innovators, investors and creators.
