Each HTML500 event consists of three presentations: The day starts with two regional influencers who briefly shed light on the current state of Canadian technology education. Regional presenters are municipal or provincial politicians who have a direct role in shaping the Canadian technology sector. Their presentations are followed by the official two-hour keynote. The keynote is presented by a notable Canadian web developer who has the breadth of experience and teaching ability necessary to distill technical concepts into easy-to-understand, approachable lessons that can empower attendees to master the core concepts of coding.

Julian Shapiro and Khurram Virani on stage at HTML 500 Vancouver

In HTML500's inaugural year, Julian Shapiro, the world-renowned Canadian web developer, presented the keynote lecture and helped coordinate its curriculum. Preceding his keynote was Andrew Wilkinson, the Minster of Advanced Education for the province of British Columbia. Mr. Wilkinson is a former deputy minister of the British Columbia Ministry of Economic Development, where he was responsible for economic, trade, and tourism matters.

In 2015, the keynote lecture was provided by Khurram Virani, the co-founder of Canada's nationwide Lighthouse Labs coding academy and the co-founder of Functional Imperative, one of Canada's leading digital consultancies. Regional presenters for 2015 included Matt Brown, the Mayor of London, Ontario; Amrik Virk, the Minister of Technology for the province of British Columbia; and Shawn Mandel, the Vice President of Canada's Telus Digital.
